A Practice Built on Local Knowledge

Baan Counsel grew from the conviction that thorough, considerate legal guidance makes a meaningful difference to people starting their lives in Thailand.

Who We Are

Established in Bangkok, Focused on Your Journey

Baan Counsel was founded on Sukhumvit by legal professionals who had worked firsthand within Thai government processes — the Immigration Bureau, the Ministry of Labour, and the Department of Business Development. That direct experience shaped a practice that does not treat immigration as a routine transaction, but as a process with real stakes for real people.

Over time, the firm developed a particular focus on expatriate professionals, international families, and individuals considering long-term residency in Thailand. Each of these groups brings a distinct set of circumstances, and Baan Counsel's approach has always been to understand those circumstances before recommending a path forward.

The name "Baan" comes from the Thai word for home — a deliberate reflection of our belief that immigration law should serve people's lives, not complicate them.

Standards & Protocols

How We Work

Our internal standards reflect the seriousness with which we approach every case, regardless of complexity.

Thai Bar Association Member

All legal advisory work is conducted within the framework of the Lawyers Council of Thailand, ensuring professional accountability and ethical standards.

Pre-Submission Review

Every application dossier is reviewed by a second advisor before submission. This reduces the chance of errors that could delay or complicate an application.

Data Confidentiality

Client documents and personal information are stored securely and handled in accordance with Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) 2019.

Regulation Monitoring

Thai immigration requirements are updated regularly by government authorities. We monitor official circulars so our advice reflects current procedures, not outdated practice.

Renewal Tracking

We maintain a renewal calendar for active clients and send advance reminders for 90-day reports, visa extensions, and work permit renewals to avoid lapses in status.

Bilingual Documentation

Our team prepares and reviews documents in both Thai and English, ensuring translations are accurate and meet the authentication standards required by Thai authorities.

Practice Context

Bangkok's immigrant professional community has grown considerably over the past decade, bringing a corresponding increase in demand for precise, reliable immigration support. The Thai legal framework governing work authorisation and long-term residency involves multiple government departments — the Immigration Bureau under the Royal Thai Police, the Ministry of Labour's Employment Department, and in some cases the Board of Investment or the Department of Business Development. Each has its own filing requirements, timelines, and documentation standards.

Baan Counsel's practice spans the full range of non-immigrant visa categories and work permit types, with particular depth in the B and O categories that serve the majority of working professionals and family members in Thailand. Our permanent residency preparation work is among the most thorough available in Bangkok, reflecting the high documentation standard that Thai immigration authorities apply to these applications.

Working from our office at Soi 33 on Sukhumvit Road, we serve clients across Watthana, Khlong Toei, and throughout central Bangkok, as well as those approaching applications from outside Thailand through Royal Thai embassies and consulates worldwide.
